Week 12
November 22-23
*There is no school November 24-26 in celebration of Thanksgiving.
Academic Updates
Our Positivity Project theme is gratitude
Students will be writing to demonstrate their understanding of sequencing
In math we will be working on addition and subtraction fluency within 10
and using strategies to add and subtract within 20
We will focus on ending blends and introduce consonant clusters
In our Spinning Sky unit we will be learning about the moon and its phases
Homework
Please be sure your child is reading for at least 20 minutes each day.
Report Cards
Report cards will be coming home prior to Thanksgiving break.
Grades are given on a 1, 2, 3, 4 scale based on Common Core State Standards.
A 3 is the target.
A 2 indicates they’re moving in the right direction.
A 1 means the child is not yet showing understanding of the standard.
Each standard that you see listed is what the children are expected to
know and be able to do by the END OF THE YEAR.
Because of this, most children will receive 1s and 2s on their report card
during the first trimester. If your child has a 1 in an area that is of concern
at this point in the year, I will include details on how we can work together
to ensure understanding.
